The results went according to form as Al Zamil Metal led the top four teams into the semifinal after the positioning round in the FTBJ-ICBL 30th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes in Mossadia Plaza here.
Al Zamil bowled just hard enough to keep the No. 1 spot with 20 points on the day.
Jeddah Lanes tried to make a run at Zamil, carding the second-best tally of 44.5 points but still fell short an settled for the No. 2 ranking.
Separated by a point at the start of positioning round Sky Freight-TFC and Cristal Global switched places after scoring 41.5 and 34.5 points respectively. Sky Freight took the third spot into the next round with Cristal Global in fourth place.
Other results of the positioning round: Kulisap ni Moe 48 points, Hidada 43, Pin Slashers 32.5, Saudi Diyar Consultants 27, Al Watan Décor 26, Akiera Sato Bowlers 16, Avengers 10, Yanbu Sniper 5.
To join the four outright semifinalists are the top three teams at the end of the knockout three-game series among the 9 remaining teams.
Bonie Garcia rolled the only complete games from the men’s side at Al Zamil on 615. Merlen Pamintuan and Ester Jalata tallied 563 and 506 from the distaff side, while Randy Mata, Victor Pagayon and Ladio Gonzales each tossed in two games of 172-153, 194-257 and 149-204.
Paulo Allego and Jeanette Cerbito hit the big rounds of 631 and 620 at Jeddah Lanes. Marie Gumpal added 528 to go with the 204-213 by Majid Aslani, 225-244 by Nick Gozun and 192-201 by Igna Salgado.
The duo of Rene Santiago and Oca Bernabe compiled 646 and 623 to take charge at Sky Freight with Babes Tiongson on 586 an Imelda Sayago on 552.
Sharing the remaining three games were Goying Salazar 225-226 and James Galvan 180.
Zaldy Bacero shot the high series of 705 (227, 257, 221) to lead Cristal, while Cesar Monares had 626, Alma Bacero 524, Malou Gimme 514, Pancho Cuevas 1820194 and Ruben Grino 194.
