The award-winning 1001 Inventions exhibition will be one of the major features of Saudi Aramco summer cultural program that begins tomorrow at Aramco Cultural Park, opposite the Industrial Training Center in Dhahran.
“There will be qualitative improvement in this year’s summer program,” said Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, supervisor of the program, yesterday. This year’s program will include a variety of cultural, educational and entertainment events.
“We are organizing this annual program as part of our social responsibility,” he said. Last year it attracted more than 500,000 people including women and children.
Al-Ghamdi said the programs are designed to increase the knowledge of young Saudi men and women and enhance their creativity as well as scientific and technological skills.
“There will be 44 workshops and courses in different interesting subjects including iPhone games, photography and cartoons conducted by 90 Saudi trainers,” the supervisor said, adding that the trainers were given coaching by experts at international universities and research
centers.
The 1001 Inventions uncovers a thousand years of scientific and cultural achievements from Muslim Civilization from the 7th century onwards, and how those contributions helped create the foundations of our modern world.
Through its educational programs, books, block-buster exhibitions, live shows, films and learning products, 1001 Inventions showcases the contributions of inspirational men and women of different faiths and cultures in a civilization that spread from Spain to China.
The Aramco program also includes a number of sports events where children will be trained to master soccer skills.
