HOLLYWOOD: Chances are you won’t be gracing the red carpet with your presence at the Academy Awards this year, but there are plenty of mobile devices applications that claim to offer “backstage” or “exclusive” access to those who do.
Chief among them is ABC’s Oscars app, which provides users with photos, video, articles and even the odd watch-party recipe or two. Film buffs eager to see how their winning picks stack up against the Academy’s can cast ballots through the app, via a link-up with Facebook. On Oscar night, the app will give users some access to ABC’s red-carpet coverage.
There’s nothing earth-shattering about this app, but it’s fine as a handy reference guide before and during the show. It's free, for Apple’s iOS platforms and Android devices.
