Autistic children from the Gulf countries displayed their art in a one-day exhibition this week in an effort to strengthen the relationship between the Saudi Association for Parents and other autism groups in the GCC.
The Gulf Autism Union hosted the exhibition at the Rosewood Corniche.
“This art exhibition is our first initiative with Jeddah Autism Center but we hope to develop a long term relationship with them in light of the incredible work they’re offering in the Kingdom for autistic children and their parents,” said Hans-Peter Leitzke, managing director of Rosewood Corniche. “We are committed to playing our part in the local Jeddah community and I’m personally ecstatic seeing the children's creations celebrated in this way.”
The one-day exhibition follows a Doha art competition launched in April as part of Autism Awareness Month.
The Jeddah exhibiton recognizes the Doha art competition’s winner, a Saudi child under the care of the Jeddah Autism Centre.
The Jeddah Autism Center, a nonprofit voluntary organization, is the first of its kind in the Kingdom and is considered to be one of the leading social institutions offering quality educational programs and support for families affected by autism.
