Local community festivals are an opportunity to explore local traditions and they provide a platform for the work of local artisans and craftsmen. Several short festivals are organized throughout Qassim. One of the most popular ones is the Khulaijah Festival.
The fifth annual celebration of the Khulaijah, the province's famous biscuit-like bun started yesterday at King Khalid Cultural Center in Buraidah. The Khulaijah Festival gives families in Qassim a chance to sell food products and to promote their traditional goods.
“The festival organizers want to support productive families in the province, to promote home-made traditional goods and give women the chance to display their goods to shoppers, individuals and corporations,” said Mayor of Qassim Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Sultan, chairman of Buraidah Festivals Committee.
“Khulaijah Festival has become a sign of the great successes of the province, and the city of Buraidah. It is the only festival in the province that opens the door for productive families, women and girls. The festival provides them with sustainable jobs opportunities,” said Fahd Al-Ayari, the executive director of the festival.
