Asuncion powers Air21 to double award in Hala-Mobily-Globe Friday event

Thong Asuncion delivered one of his best performances to lift Air21 to a Best Team of the Week and Best Bowler fo the Week double on the 14th week of the IBG Friday Bowling League 2nd Conference.
Hala Int’l Mabuhay Mobily in partnership with Globe sponsored the league organized by the Itqan Bowlers Group (IBG) at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC).
Asuncion, well-known for his flashy style, shot a towering four-game series of 972 to claim the invidual award while helping Air 21 to the team award and a victory over Itqan Tenpin Wizards 25-13.
Asuncion carded games of 252, 226, 226 and 236. Sharing spotlight with Asuncion were Leo Mabunga (872), Jove Marano (845) and Shawn Rickett (809). Ruel Toledo and Jojo Paciano added separate series of 399 and 373.
For Tenpin Wizards, posting the best score was the troika of Ric Singson, Doy del Moral and Reynald Medina who fired 824, 817 and 814 respectively. Southpaw Nap Torres posted 776 points and Ronald Cruz 745.
In another pair of lanes, NBA walloped Xperts 24-4 behind Mike Ecalnir (923), Ronald Bautista (763) and Joe Garrido (759). Ryan Inigo and youthful Earl de Vera downed 416 and 366 in two outings.
League leader D’Pirates proved too strong for SACO 23-11 to tighten their grip on the top spot.
Hard-hitting Andro Tismo led D’Pirates by downing a four-game series scratch of 861 points. Johnny Penicilla followed Tismo on 606 points. Erwin Nacario and veteran Edwin Atienza had separate series of 569 and 462.
Dennis Gabriel, Celis Viloria and Bembol Velasco scored 429, 422 and 413 while the petite Fareed Aquino shared 395 points.
Buddy Balisi shot 840 points to top-score at SACO and coming-in next to him were Jun Sebastian (687), Nickson Mesa (590), Fred Zacarias (566) and Jim dela Rosa (544).
Other results: Itqan Tornado beat Great Balls of Fire 22-5, Roll and Bowl beat SABB Strikers 22-10, Salyng Kits beat Bankrun 20-13 and Pinbusters beat Magnificent-5 21-14.
