ATPR Team Tennis tourney off to fine start

Inspired by the success of the recently concluded Friendship Cup under the leadership of its current chairman Lito Ladio, the Association of Tennis Players-Riyadh (ATPR) launched the annual ATPR Team Tennis tournament 2012 at the tennis courts of the Al Yamamah Hotel last weekend here.
The tournament is divided into two divisions: BC division to be played in a single-round robin elimination game format, where the top three teams will be declared winners according to their final standings, as champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up in that order. Point system shall be applied in case of a tie in the match standing, and an extended single match shall be played on tie-break format only, where the “sudden death” option shall be applied should the match remains deadlock after 12 games. Entries in the BC division, includes teams Courtville, GSO, WEMOWA, Power Impact, DQ Tennis Club, RTC-H20, D’Goldies, and team Angel-Angelico.
A random matching format will be applied in the 12-team Category C division, where each team will be playing for only seven matches, where the top 5 teams shall be declared winners from champion to 4th runner-up. Tie-breakers in the final standing shall be applied on the same format as in the B/C division. Confirmed entries participating in the C division: Argah Tennis Club, KACST, Al-Khorayef, Real Netters Dream Team, DQ Tennis Club, Western Union-Saudi Oger, Century Properties, ALTP Tuesday Group, Hardballs, Sulu Stars, Brothers and Wildcard.
The tournament and organizing committee is represented by the current officers of the Association of Tennis Players-Riyadh (ATPR), composed of : Ladio (chairman), Gerry De Guzman (vice-chairman), Radi Bagnol (tournament director), Ramon Garra (secretary), Ace Espiritu (budget & finance), Ramon Montales (IT administrator), Belmar Indencia (logistics), Ismael Taha (community/culture officer) and Ulysses Perez (media & public relations).
