JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia yesterday lifted a ban on chicken exports but the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that exporters should return the subsidy of SR 2 per kg.
“If poultry farms want to export their products they have to abide by the rules for exporting subsidized goods,” the ministry said.
It said the exporters of chicken should pay back the subsidy of SR 2,000 per ton.
The ministry had earlier slapped a ban on chicken exports because of rising prices of the product in local markets.
The ministry emphasized its policy of meeting local demand for all goods and ensuring supply of products at reasonable prices.
