TOMORROW the league will resume as the Eid break ends. Two rounds have gone with one big loser — Hilal, the team which used to be the all time top contender for the championship.
Hilal had its worst start to the season ever, thanks to its bad administration. The president seems to be in denial to the fact that he can’t run the team anymore. Maybe his consultants are after their personal benefits but even so, this shouldn’t be a reason for the president to mismanage the team.
The president said for the second time at the end of last season that the next one will be a season of actions. But now, it seems that he’s actually only repeating his own mistakes. Signing a coach who is only so-so and foreign players who are below expectations.
In fairness, we can’t blame the coach or the players, because they’ve been signed up way too late. There are also issues with the local players, like not getting rid of the unproductive while letting go of the good ones. Running after Ahmed Alfuraidi who wants to abuse the team with his unreasonable demands is a bad decision that seems to repeat itself. Did the president think of what the other indispensable players do when their time to renew the contract is up?
Speaking of unproductive players, bringing back Yasser Al-Qahtani was another bad move. He is one of the main reasons why the team didn’t do well. I can confidently say in behalf of the team supporters that they want him out. What did he do in the past? Surely, the team can do without him. Hilal needs a big change starting with a new president.
