Butler, Gatorade, Bison triumph in Perfetto Basketball tourney

The double G twin tower combination of Guanzon and Greason led Butler to a rousing 93-73 victory over defending champion Grain Silos & Flour Mills Organization in the 2012 Perfetto Basketball Tournament organized by Industrial Sports Association at the Industrial City Dawah Office (ICDO) court in Industrial City Phase I on the outskirt of Jeddah.
Guanzon was named Best Player of the game for the second time in the newly opened conference, scoring 20 points including his magnificent aerial moves to the basket to elude his defenders. Greason, who also showed his shot-blocking skills, added 14 points.
The taller Butler team, coached and managed by Robert Maranan, never gave Grain Silos chances in all four quarters. Aries Macaspac and De Guzman scored heavily for Grain Silos and really tried their best to match up against powerhouse Butler in vain. Dela Paz, a new Butler recruit, had 12 points and his good defense on Macaspac and De Guzman kept Grain Silos at bay.
Gatorade was fully charged courtesy of Carbonel, Gino Cilot and Destreza when it crushed Combibo 91-74. Carbonel was named Best Player of the game with 27 spiking his game with impressive rebounding. Slasher Cilot added 19, Destreza had 16 crucial fourth quarter points and Zorilla added 10 points.
Only Basa and Cruz showed toughness on the court for Combibo and combined for 52 points.
Best Player Dela Pena led Bison past SPS 70-66, scoring 19 points and using his power inside the shaded area. Caroro supported Dela Pena with 14 points as did cat-quick Palero with 12 points.
Green Vision defeated Alqathani 56-49 and the Best Player of the game was Cruz who scored 14 points. Nepro Plastic won over IBN Sina 70-61 with Buenavista (23 points) as Best Player.
UCIC defeated AGM 59-46 and Cugal was named Best Player with 11 points.
