Butt Sports got the better of Desert Warriors by 3 wickets during the sixth week of the Jotun Paints Cricket League organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association.
Desert Warriors batted first and were all out for 174 runs. Aziz top-scored with 79 runs followed by Razi (32) and Muzammil (20). Tariq and Junaid had 3 scalps each for 27 and 29 runs respectively. Abdul Rahman 2 for 22.
In reply Butt Sports were off to a bad start and lost Zeeshan Butt and Javed cheaply. However, Taqriq stabilized the innings with his patient 53 runs. He was ably supported by Junaid (22) and Aijaz (39). Butt Sports reached their target with three overs to spare. Basil took 3 for 18 and Jay Kumar 2 for 22.
Earlier, Reel & Rom defeated Al Ghudaid by 4 wickets with 4 overs to spare. Al Ghudaid scored 194 runs for 2 wickets.
Arsalan scored an unbeaten 106 supported by Osama’s 53.
Franky David and Yaqoob were the wicket takers.
In reply Reel and Rom scored the required target 195 runs for the loss of 6 wickets and 4 overs to spare. For the winners, Nisar (25), Ayaz (27), Zubair (38), Wajid (53) and Muneer (23) were the main contributors.
In the third match, MHA cricketers beat Pak young by 30 runs. MHA batted first and managed 165 runs in their allotted overs with 2 overs still to go. Usman (32), Khalid (22), Ali (18), Wali (20) and Raj (28) did their best. MHA were all out in 18 overs for 165 runs. Tasawwar wrecked the opposing side with his deadly bowling as he took 6 for 22.
In reply, the Pak Young batsmen failed to take advantage and caved in tamely for 135 runs and lost the match by 30 runs.
Fazal Khatak (25), Ehsan (30) and Riaz Afridi (30) were the main scorers.
Atta ur Rahman , Khalid and Ali claimed 2 wickets each.
In another match, IBS beat Stallions by 8 wickets. Stallions were restricted 129 runs. Ahsan (62) and Hassan (28) were the main contributors. None of the remaining batsmen reached double figures. Stallions managed 129 runs in its allotted overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Ali took 2 for 14. In reply, IBS lost an early wicket of Faud. Thereafter Nisar (20), Waris (36) and Shoaib (34) helped their tea score an easy win.
In the last match of the day, Hyderabad Green-XI ousted Al Barooj Al Sika by 8 wickets. Al Barooj put up 201 for 9.
Yassir (68) and Tahir (74) put on 119 for the opening wicket partnership. Later, Shoukath and Hafiz scored 13 runs each. Hyderabad Green’s Adeel claimed took a hat trick. Waseem 2 for 9 was the other wicket-taker.
Hyderabad Green lost Rayees for 13. Howver, Khalid (75), Waseem (51), Junaid (41 n.o) helped their team to cruise home comfortably for the loss of2 wickets.
