JEDDAH: More than 50,000 members of the Indian community attended the Educational Exhibition 2012 and were treated to a demonstration of creatively, talent and skill by the students of the International Indian School Jeddah Girls Section (IISJ).
IISJ Principal Syed Masood Ahmed said the school encourages their students to participate in exhibitions and help them develop their innovative capacity and enhance their creative skills.
Ahmed said EDEX 2012 gives students a platform to showcase their skills. “It is also an opportunity for parents and community members to recognize and appreciate the great talents of our students. We have made every possible effort to develop their innovative capabilities by making use of available resources,” he added.
The principal praised the continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) system saying it has been instrumental in developing their students’ skill level. CCE uses a holistic evaluation approach and considers a student’s individual capability including thinking power and imagination.
“Our students performed well in the Cluster Meet of Indian schools in Dammam last month. Their project on ionic separation of pollutants was well received by parents and education leaders,” he said.
Nearly 1,200 students participated in EDEX 2012 and presented a wide-range of informative projects.
Vice Principal Farahdunnisa, EDEX 2012 host, said, “We assigned projects to students to work on during vacation rather than conflicting with their studies.” She attributed the combined efforts of students, teachers and parents to make EDEX 2012 a resounding success. “Our students put forward new ideas and this made the exhibition really interesting and informative. They performed well and I enjoyed watching them explaining their projects with confidence.”
Hala Haneefa, Brinda Mahindran, Roma Asawary and Noora Rizwan were some of the many young girls who impressed visitors with their excellent communication skills. Hala told Arab News, “We had an opportunity to practice what we studied in the classroom in relation to trade and promotion.”
Parents were delighted and proud to see their children’s talents showcased through the exhibition. Burhan from Chennai said, “This shows our children are very knowledgeable and hardworking and if we guide them properly they can do wonders.”
Abdul Aziz Thankayathil, an IT manager and a former secretary-general of the Indian School Parents Forum, highlighted the importance of EDEX saying it gives an opportunity for students to demonstrate their talents. He called for displaying the best projects to make it more attractive.
