After a grueling two months of tennis hostilities, opposing teams faced each other not on the tennis court but at the Elite Hall in Old Airport Area here to honor and crown the winners and respective category champions in the recently concluded 23rd Astec Team Tennis Tournament 2012.
The program proper started with Association of Tennis Clubs, Jeddah (Astec) Secretary and emcee Chet Bautista welcoming the guests including Reem Riviera’s Operation Manager Karn Tabtim who came to represent and convey the message of thanks of their chairman, Faisal Al Shamrani, and their commitment of future support to Astec-organized tournaments.
Astec Chairman Randy Martin then thanked all the participants and the officers of Astec for their support which contributed to the success of the tournament. He also thanked Deltaz Marketing through Tony Kassis and Amin Malik for their continued support and for providing Prince as the official tennis balls of the tournament. France Lorin Idjao did an intermission number to entertain the audience.
Crowned champions in each category were: Tropang Obhur Tennis Club Team Uricane – Reem Riviera for Class C composed of Ronnie Organo, Gerardo Catalan, Ricky Salazar, Eusebio Castillo, Joe Espiritu, Ebenecer Capalad, Nerio Batestil, Dante Gabrillo and Jonathan Cerezo; Category LMX — Saudia City Tennis Club / SCTC Pepsi Bugshan — Jess Batingal Team with members Ronnie Santos, Ramil Abdua, Henry Siazon, Amin Paraji, Froilan Lim, Mhouz Martinez, Deddy Taryono, Haroun Ratag and Voi Tejada. Category B2 — Saudia City Tennis Club / SCTC Pepsi Bugshan – Jess Batingal team bannered by Francis Balde, Ernie Capito, Sol Bartolome, Ronnie Santos, Ramil Abdua, Amin Paraji, Abdo Poole, Henry Siazon and Efren Bulatao; MMX — Red Sea Tennis Players RSTP-1 Randy Martin, Ramon Monterde, Tony Mirasol, Ron Valdez, Domelo Gesta, Hussam I-Basha, Joel De Castro, Ramil Abdua and Carmelo Nery; HMX category — Jeddah Ranao Tennis Club (JRTC) Maarouf Pantaran, Danny Natangcop, Alimbsar Umpa, Lantong Patara, Elias Mangca, Marcial Barro, Arnold Tavera and Allan Beltran.
Best Uniform awards were given to SCTC – SARED (Category C), Elaf (B2 Category), Saudia Catering (Category LMX) and DJ Auto Parts (Category MMX). Best Doubles Players awardees were Ben Micu-Fritz Perico of Samahang Pinoy Tennis Club (SPTC) (Category C); Ramil Abdua-Mhouz Martinez of SCTC-Pepsi Bugshan (Category LMX); Nilo Borata-Roel Manarang of Friday Bulls – Ed Belen team (Category B2); Elias Mangca-Tuffs Laguindab of JRTC (Category MMX) and Marcial Barro-Arnold Tavera of Team JRTC (Category HMX).
