Clinging to the past

This refers to the article “Clinging to the past will get us nowhere” (Jan. 14) by Nawar Fakhry Ezzi. I think the author has failed to understand what Islamic teachings want from Muslims.
As a matter of fact, it is not the case of conservatives or fundamentalists, as Islam is a universal and true religion and its teachings are divine and it has all the solutions for the humanity. It is also a fact that everybody cannot pass the religious rulings. For doing this one should possess religious as well as worldly knowledge.
Modern Muslim writers do not have expertise in religious field and what they think as per their knowledge and thinking may be in contradiction with the Islamic teachings.
Also, these writers should know that in the name of modernization, certain rules of Islam cannot be changed as they are divine not man-made. - Anees Lokhande, Alkhobar
