A word for private sector
Irrespective of whether you’re a Saudi or a non-Saudi who works for the government, King Salman decreed for you a reward of two salaries for the month of February 2015. So, your usual monthly payment as a government employee happened to be fed with two more salaries. This makes it a triple salary for this month.
I extend my congratulations to government employees of all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds in Saudi Arabia. Nevertheless, I also want to urge the private sector to act inspired by the Royal Decree. Why did 75 percent of huge private sector organizations act reluctant? Why aren’t they supporting their employees by tripling their salaries?
This is happening despite the fact that the Saudi private sector is the biggest in the region. It contributed SR700 billion to the overall national income in 2012, with an annual growth rate of 5.3 percent, according to the Ministry of Economy and Planning.
If this is the case, why aren’t many private sector organizations supporting their success makers with a reward of two salaries?
