Women staff step up roles at Al-Bandar Trading

Al-Bandar Trading (BT), one of the largest retail conglomerates in the Kingdom, felicitated the company’s female staff for their outstanding performance in various fields.
The event took place in the presence of Labor Minister Adel Fakeih, Prince Bandar bin Saud, chairman of Al-Bandar Trading, and Abdullah Al-Ahmed, chief administrative officer. Senior executives and employees were also present.
BT is first in the Kingdom to take the initiative to encourage female employment in the retail sector, said Al-Ahmed.
He said: “The idea stems from the female clientele of the group which is roughly about 85 percent of the total clientele of all the brands that BT operates in the Kingdom. We believe female employees are more capable to understand a female costumers’ needs and thereby ensures better service.”
The minister congratulated the employees for their achievements. He also handed over certificates to them.
He said: “The efforts of Al-Bandar Trading in recruiting Saudis is exemplary and a model to be followed by others companies. Just like Al-Bandar Trading, other companies should also aim at creating a healthy working environment within the guidelines of the Islamic law instead of focusing only on the profits.”
Expressing concerns over the unemployment issues, the minister said the, “recent statistics released by the Ministry of Economy and Planning show that the unemployment rate in males has gone down tremendously during the past years however the female unemployment is still yet to pick.”
He emphasized that the role of private sector companies in creating more job opportunities for women. This is vital in order to overcome the unemployment crisis.
He called on private sector employers to support the government’s efforts to provide more career opportunities to young citizens.
