Cristal Global catches eye in FTBJ-ICBL 30th Conference

Cristal Global, the 27th Conference champion, commanded attention very early in the new tournament when it clinched Team of the Week honors during the second session in the FTBJ-ICBL 30th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes in Mossadia Plaza here.
Cristal Global pooled the top tally of 45 points, well in front of Al Zamil Metal, formerly DanMerl, and Sky Freight-TFC which tied on 42 points.
Hidada Ltd. was alone in fourth place on the day with 36 points followed by Akiera Sato Bowlers 33.5, Avengers 32.5 and Yanbu Sniper 30.
D’ Barkads came through with 27 points with Sarawat on 21. Al Watan Décor, Saudi Diyar Consultants, Kulisap ni Moe and Pin Slashers finished as the last four teams on 16, 14, 13 and 12 in that order.
The men’s and ladies Bowler of the Week awardees were Leo Edejer of D’ Barkads and Al Watan’s Charrie Guzman, who fired their division’s high series of 651 and 650 on lines of 243, 180, 183 and 191, 174, 225, respectively.
Cristal Global of Danny Pamintuan accelerated after a slow start, coming in second place in the second and third games and first in overall output to steer clear of the pack.
Cesar Monares and the two players on the distaff side, Gail Mata and Bheng Cerbito, each went the full distance for Cristal on 627, 564 and 524. Zaldy Bacero added two games of 216-235 as did Pancho Cuevas 223-177 and Jess Cerbito 169-162.
The first week honoree, Al Zamil enjoyed another solid display thanks mainly to the trio of Merlen Pamintuan 602, Len-Len Berina 572 and Bonie Garcia 566. Veteran Cris Villavelez contributed 203-215, Randy Mata had 192-215 and cArlos Constantino made 152-183.
Emy de Guzman’s Sky Freight squad got a big lift from the duo of Rene Santiago and Oca Bernabe who drilled 640 and 630 to go with the 547 by Goying Salazar, 538 by Babes Tiongson, 180-172 by Ellen Bernabe and 159 by Grace Dasas.
Alex Flora shot 602 at the helm of Akiera with Carmen Bernardo on 570 and Matet Cavite on 527. Nabeel compiled 178-182, Khalid Talyoni had 209-233 and Ed Labuac tossed in 175-160.
For Avengers the trio of Tess Marasigan, Jun Palacios and Myrna Diaz led the way with rounds of 569, 545 and 524. The rest of the team scores came from Fred Monson 235-192, Rudy Valenzuela 204-195 and Sammy Ocampo 179-176.
