DAMMAM: This Eid was special for those arriving at and departing from Dammam's King Fahd International Airport as they received roses from the airport authorities.
This was a first of its kind activity undertaken by the KFIA. The three-day Eid festivity was called "Eidona bal Matar" or "Our Eid at KFIA". The gesture won the hearts of many and created a very positive image of the people who work at the huge airport. More than 3,000 roses were distributed among KFIA passengers.
While people were waiting at the KFIA to depart for their respective destinations, Eid activity attracted them and brought smiles and happiness on the faces of children and their parents. The most attractive section was a special tent designed to reflect the Saudi Arabian culture. Here, Arabic coffee and dates as well as other yummy Eid sweets were distributed. Children were happy and attracted by the Disney cartoon characters; they posed with them as their parents took pictures. Another section that received huge attention from the children was the face-painting corner.
The airport visitors thanked KFIA's Eid program coordinators for their thoughtful gestures and successful activities.
Muhammad Ali, a father of two, was extremely delighted. "I am flying to Jeddah, and I still have two hours to depart. My children would have gotten bored. These fun activities made all of us happy," he told Arab News. "Thank you, KFIA for making our Eid memorable."
Khalid Muhammad, 10, could not hide his excitement. "I loved everything, especially my favorite Disney cartoon characters and face painting," he gushed.
For Nora Jameel, who was traveling to Dubai, the Arabic coffee was superb. "I love it so much, and the dates that go with them are delicious ... I want to express my thanks to KFIA and those behind this imaginative effort."
