DM Healthcare steps up Kerala projects

The UAE-based DM Healthcare, a major health care conglomerate in Kerala and the Middle East, has announced an investment of over Rs. 215 million (around SR 3.89 million) in Kerala.
DM Healthcare is developing an array of health care facilities in various locations in Kerala that would serve millions of people.
Most of these projects are expected to operational in the next five years.
The projects under construction and those in the pipeline include Aster Medcity, Aster Cluster hospitals in Kerala, Aster Medcity — Kochi Township, DM WIMS Medical College and the expansion of MIMS hospitals in Calicut, Kottakkal, Kannur and Palghat.

The DM Healthcare group is developing Aster Medcity, a world class hi-tech health care destination being developed in over 40 acres of land that integrates nature with healing, in Kochi. The first phase, which is being developed at a project outlay of Rs 50 million, includes a 550-bed Core Hospital with 9 Centers of Excellence (COEs) in various super-specialties like Cardiology, Ortho, Oncology etc. Aster Medcity will be a conglomeration of many multi-super specialty hospitals in one campus.
The first phase of Aster Medcity is on track for commissioning during the second half of 2013.
Aster Medcity campus shall have a 500-seat Medical Convention Center, a 4-5 star hotel and serviced apartment complex, staff accommodation for medical and para-medical staff. A high end residential facility of about 1.5 million square feet is also planned with the integrated township having a population of about 10,000 people.
DM Healthcare which is a major stake holder of MIMS will drive the expansion of the existing facilities at the Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) in Kozhikode and Kottakkal.
An investment of Rs. 30 million in MIMS over the next three years will see the development of a 150-bed Women and Children block at MIMS Kozhikode and an addition of 150 beds at MIMS Kottakkal.
As part of its expansion, MIMS is also building a 250-bed hospital in Kannur and 200-bed hospital in Palakkad.
Dr. Moopen is also trying to address the health care requirement in Wayanad and surrounding areas, by setting up a Medical College with a 700-bed hospital in this district.
