A senior official of the Labor Ministry has appreciated Al-Bandar Trading Company’s efforts in recruiting, training and promoting Saudi women employees.
Ibrahim bin Fahd Al-Mouqil, general manager (human resources) at the Labor Ministry, was speaking as a chief guest at an event in Jeddah to felicitate outstanding women employees of one of Saudi Arabia’s largest retail conglomerates.
Members of Al-Bandar Trading Company’s senior management, including Abdullah Al-Ahmed, chief administrative officer, and T.S. Vedapuri, chief operating officer (Western Region), attended the event.
Al-Mouqil congratulated the women employees for their outstanding efforts and achievements. He presented letters of commendation to them.
“The efforts of Al-Bandar Trading in recruiting Saudis are exemplary,” said Al-Mouqil. “It has created a model for other companies to follow. Just as Al-Bandar Trading, others should not just focus on profits, but aim at creating a healthy working environment for women keeping in view the guidelines prescribed by Islam.”
T.S. Vedapuri said the idea to employ women stemmed from the group’s large female clientele. “About 85 percent of our total clientele for all brands that we operate in the Kingdom is women,” he said. “In such a scenario, to hire Saudi women makes eminent sense because they are in a better position to understand the needs and choices of the women clientele. This ensures better service to our valued customers,” said Vedapuri.
Abdullah Al-Ahmed said Al-Bandar Trading Company was among the first ones in the retail sector to employ women. “This initiative aligns perfectly with our core values of empowering people to strive and to deliver,” he said.
Al-Bandar Trading’s branded outlets such as Centrepoint, Citymax, ICONIC, Babyshop, Lifestyle, New Look, Koton, Bossini, Carpisa, Shoexpress, Home Centre and Splash dot the length and breadth of the Kingdom and are very popular among all sections of Saudis and expatriates.
“We felt highly honored to have among us Al-Mouqil and other guests who joined us in celebrating the achievements of Al-Bandar Trading’s women staff,” said Al-Ahmed.
