For its last meeting of 2012 before taking a Christmas break the Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club (OFBC) headed by Joel Nidoy organized the 1st Get-Together Singles Event with beginning bowlers Neil “Benj” Espinosa and Jesusa V. Bautista emerging as the men’s and ladies champions at IN-10-SO lanes in Serafi Megamall here.
The five-game eliminations were played over two Fridays with the top five in both divisions to play a further two games to determine the final placings.
Espinosa totaled 421 including handicap on lines of 183-168 to capture the top prize. Robert “Arman” Gamboa placed second on 392 (163-159), Conrad Baltazar third on 388 (164-154), Rey Matiga fourth on 374 (188-136) and Khalid Bustinera fifth on 372 (168-154).
Like Espinosa Bautista had an easy path to the title, stringing a two-game series of 433 (157-186). Maricar “Akang” Victorino took second place on 397 (171-136) followed by Fedelyn Bustinera 375 (150-155), Fuly Primo 338 (116-192) and Evelyn Santoc 332 (115-147).
Gamboa was the men’s top qualifier on 990. Espinosa totaled 986 to be in second place followed by Bustinera, Baltazar and Matiga on 954, 919 and 918 in that order.
The ladies qualifying had Santoc on top with total pinfalls of 994. Victorino secured the second position with 932 with Jesusa Labuac third, Bustinera fourth and Primo fifth with respective totals of 895, 871 and 862.
Both the champions received trophy, cash prize and gift certificate from the management of IN-10-SO through Hani Al Toukhi, bowling manager.
Also, Ed Labuac, and Primo posted the high scratch games of 219 and 183 during the event while Rey Beltran, a Class A bowler, and Santoc registered the high scratch series of 901 and 819.
Capping the event was a get together party and awarding ceremony at a local restaurant.
Gifts galore donated by sponsors and individuals. The major raffle prize of one Aircon unit courtesy of Transferee Team headed by Jun Estefano and Alona Mejia went to Naneth de Guzman. Other prizes included two units of microwave oven from Orient Provision and Trading Company under Makati brand of Filipino foods distributor, cash prizes from Rudy Jamon of RJ Transient Houses, Fityani Boutique, Evelyn Santoc, Jon Valdesotto, Jhun de Dios, Gary Redonday, Tirso Tambalan, Ronnie de Castro, Ric Reformado, Benj Espinosa, Fatima Jintarat, Margie Villasanta, Conrad Baltazar Jr., Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Carredo, Mahdali Voi Ycong, Ester Jalata, and Mr. & Mrs. Joel and Malou Nidoy.
