200 evacuated after Makkah hotel blaze

JEDDAH: Around 18 people suffered minor injuries, including suffocation, when a fire broke out on the third floor of a four-story hotel in Ibrahim Al-Khalil Street along Al-Misfalah neighborhood, Makkah, on Thursday morning.
Col. Saeed Sarhan, spokesman for Civil Defense in Makkah Region, said that firefighters managed to evacuate 200 people from the hotel.
The operation was supervised by the Civil Defense Commander Lt. Gen. Sulaiman Al-Omar.
Soon after the Control and Command Center of the Civil Defense in Makkah received a call about the hotel fire, its teams rushed to the site and started evacuating the occupants of the hotel. The teams extinguished the fire, the spokesman said.
Among those injured was a fire fighter. Seventeen people were treated by the Red Crescent at the site, while one was referred to a hospital, said Sarhan.

DUBAI: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has implemented 211 health projects in Yemen since 2018, state news agency SPA reported.

The projects provided assistance and relief to Yemenis in different governorates, especially areas hit by the impact of the ongoing conflict with Iran-backed Houthi militia.

KSRelief’s initiatives in Yemen have cost more than $620 million, according to the report.
