RIYADH: Given the political situation in Syria, three ministries are working to put the finishing touches on a mechanism that will allow Syrians with visit visas to obtain work permits.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman’s instructions to departments concerned are clear about the system that would allow Syrians coming on visit visas to work in the private sector.
The current labor regulations bar holders of this type of visa from working in the Kingdom. Syrians with visit visas will be allowed to enter the labor market to work after receiving an official permit from the private sector, said a statement issued online. Syrians and Yemenis are given several exceptions including exemption from deportation, which is also granted to Burmese and Palestinians.
King Salman has issued directives that allow Syrian visitors to work in the private sector since many of them are experienced and highly qualified to make a qualitative change to the local market.
