First Saudi to scale 7 summits

Prince Bandar bin Khaled bin Fahd has become the first Saudi to successfully scale the highest mountain on each of the seven continents.
The prince, who is also president of the mountaineering development program at the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, is one of the most adventurous climbers in the world.
Prince Bandar became a mountaineer by scaling Mt. Kilimanjaro and Elbrus, the highest peaks in Africa and Europe respectively.
He followed that by climbing Mt. Vinson Massif in Antarctica.
The icing on the cake was his conquest of the 8,285 meter tall Everest this year.
Prince Bandar is only the second Saudi national to reach the summit of Mount Everest and the fastest Arab to climb the so-called Seven Summits.
He said: “Mountaineering is an adventure, an adventure that has already claimed the lives of many people and critically injuring others.
“Honestly, I have loved adventures since my childhood, especially those requiring you to challenge yourself and not others.
“It is known that many people want to scale mountains for popularity or money.
“There is no question about that, but for me as a young Saudi who loves his country, with loyalty to his religion, his leadership, his country and his people, I am ready to sacrifice everything in order to raise the banner of my country over the highest peaks of the mountains and consider that the pinnacle of world achievements.
“I was able to realize this and I thank God.”
