Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah yesterday issued a decree setting up four committees to settle media-related issues.
“The decisions taken by the committees do not need any endorsement by the minister of culture and information,” the decree said, adding that defendants could appeal the committees’ verdicts. The three-member preliminary committee to look into press disputes is chaired by Muhammad bin Qaud, while the preliminary committee to look into violations of shops and individuals is chaired by Abdul Aziz Al-Muhanna.
The other two panels are: The preliminary committee to violations related to electronic, audio and visual publishing (chaired by Ahmed Al-Nasser) and the appeal committee chaired by Ali Al-Turki.
