Fuddruckers Naghi S@H returned to Filsama-organized events on a winning note, beating Makati Foods El Khereiji 89-83 in an Inter-Company Bonafide game while Arabian Homes picked up its second straight victory, 89-70 over Old Airport Islamic Center in Non-Rated Division B in the Filsama Basketball League 7th Conference at the NAI Juffali Compound court in Bawadi District here.
Sabang scored 30 points, Nanding Unas added 17 and Adrian Bulacan had 11 as Herman Cara’s Fuddruckers team used a running game to telling effect to get the number of previously undefeated Makati Foods, which got 15 and 20 points from Dela Cruz and Richard Desquitado.
Bannered by Fuentes (18 points) and Gino Cilot (16), Arabian Homes was simply too much for Islamic Center as it stayed unbeaten in two outings in the division.
Host E. A. Juffali & Bros. evened its record at 1-1 in Non-Rated Division A by beating Uni-Décor Dynamik of Freddie Juance 87-82 thanks to 18 points by Grison, 16 by Dones and 13 by Sacramento.
The third week of the tournament sponsored by OSN, WRJ Cargo and Compass Ocean Logistics began Thursday with the Inter-Color game between Filsama Green Toyota Sequoia of Commissioner Teng Laguialam and Jimmy Abdullah Beltran and Filsama Black of VP Gary Santos and Vice Commissioner Bhoy Raras.
When the battle ended it was Green 97 and Black 86 with game play-by-play announcer Willy Cartagena named Best Player of the game as he teamed with Allan Zorilla, Jun Laron and Jong Mamang in giving Green its first victory.
Green, however, ended the week with a split as it lost to Filsama White Friendster 102-98 in overtime in the first game Friday. Jamil Cobre forced overtime when he converted a set shot 90-all. Lacsinto top-scored for White with 21 points while Amang Catador and Yousuf each tallied 14.
Compass Ocean Logistics of Alex Bedia broke into the win column in three outings when it edged out new league entrant Maya International Co. 77-75 in Non-Rated B.
Compass, under new head coach Senosin, escaped the five-minute overtime period when Maya’s Castillo missed a potential tying basket as time expired. Viscayno was the main man of Compass with 29 points followed by Adriano with 15 and Torbella with 14.
Toyota ALJ opted not to defend its Non-Rated championship and instead fielded a team in Inter-Company Bona fide. As expected, the under strength team of Beltran carrying the colors of Toyota Aurion lost its first game against E. A. Juffali 81-69 in the second game Friday. Dimayuga and Agustin scored 27 and 10 points for Juffali, while Paul Taguba and Gadingan made 21 and 16 for Aurion.
In the nightcap Friday, Airnet Maarej took advantage of the late collapse by Cotabato Erfan Hospital to hammer out a 95-91 win in the Non-Rated Division.
Ismael shot a night-high 34 points to pace Airnet which also netted 21 points from Alturas and 20 from Razal. Abe and Kohme Ibrahim compiled 21 and 13 points for Cotabato.
