Guard hurt in Al-Awwamiyah shooting

A security guard at Al-Awwamiyah town in the eastern Qatif region was shot early Sunday and was rushed to the hospital in a serious condition, the police announced.
Assistant spokesman of the Eastern Province police Capt. Muhammad Al-Shihri said the police of Qatif region was informed yesterday that a citizen was injured after being shot by an unknown assailant.
The spokesman said the police was investigating the motives behind the crime to nab the criminals. "Necessary procedures were followed and the security forces are following up the case," he added.
On Saturday the police of the Eastern Province arrested a driver of a motorbike who fired a weapon at a security patrol on duty. The spokesman said two men on the motorbike approached the security car when the man riding on the passenger seat of the bike fired a weapon at them.
He said no one was hurt or injured and added that the driver had been arrested but his companion was still at large.
