The Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf) launched a program to help top up the salaries of Saudi teachers at the Kingdom’s private schools.
Hadaf’s share, equal to 50 percent of their salaries, is part of measures to make the teaching profession more attractive to young men and women jobseekers, according to the fund’s director-general Ibrahim Al-Moiqel. The program will be effective from Sept. 1 (Shawwal 14) when the new academic year begins at the end of the summer vacation and the Eid holidays.
Al-Moiqel said the fund will deposit the amount directly in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. This is in addition to their monthly salary given by the school authorities. Hadaf’s initiative comes in line with a royal decree issued by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosque King Abdullah earlier to give a minimum monthly salary of SR5,000 plus a SR600 transport allowance for Saudi teachers working at private schools. The king’s directive came as part of solving the unemployment problem for a large number of young men and women university graduates.
Al-Moiqel urged private school authorities to register their institutions and Saudi staffers on the Hadaf website. Staff members who are beneficiaries of the program include school director (if he or she is not the owner of the school), assistant director, educational supervisor, teacher, special teacher, students’ guide, librarian, employee in charge of students’ activities, and laboratory staff.
Al-Moiqel also called on private schools to register with the Education Ministry’s Noor System, which is a comprehensive and integrated educational and learning process using the most advanced technology in the field of educational administration. The system, which covers all schools affiliated to the ministry, will provide many online services for the students, teachers, parents and directors of the schools. It will also contribute to the preparation of required reports and provide information on the educational process through a central database linked with other systems.
