An annual convocation ceremony was held at Dar Al-Hekma on Tuesday to honor the graduates of the 11th prospective graduating class of 2013.
The ceremony started with a demonstration of the college’s faculty followed by a welcome speech by Lamia Gazzaz, acting vice dean for student affairs, on behalf of the Dean, Dr. Suhair Al-Qurashi.
Following the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Qur’an, an inspirational multimedia presentation titled “The Keys of Trust” brought to light the college’s ongoing errand to graduate confident, competent, creative and collaborative young women.
Alumnae achievements then took the spotlight. These included: Attending and winning prizes at national and international events and proudly representing Saudi Arabia in prestigious academic events, as well as attaining certifications and academic achievements. Students with outstanding academic and extra-curricular achievements were also recognized, with the stress being on Dar Al-Hekma’s focus on fostering and developing the intellectual, social, physical, and spiritual extents of a student’s life. The ceremony also highlighted visits from the previous academic year, such as that of Queen Silvia of Sweden, the wife of Ban Ki-moon, UN secretary general, and the Minister of Higher Education, Khalid bin Muhammad Al-Anqari. During the event, Gazzaz announced the upcoming launch of Dar Al-Hekma’s mobile application in December. The ceremony concluded with a classical piano piece performed by one of the college students.
