The GCC Polo Cup held annually at the Guards Polo Club, UK, will see some high-profile guests including Queen Elizabeth and Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel as guest of honor, in aid of the global water crisis, on June 20, 2012.
Hosted annually by BMG Foundation as a charity tournament with proceeds supporting various environmental and humanitarian causes, the GCC Polo Cup 2012 will be supported by their strategic philanthropic partner, The AlWaleed Bin Talal Foundation.
“For the past 15 years, this event has grown in prominence with the presence of high ranking royals. As a spectator, you will not only enjoy an equestrian game of highly skilled players and ponies, but also an outstanding day in the most picturesque landscape of the British country side. Over the years, the GCC Polo Cup has truly become an East-West meeting hub with different backgrounds, nationalities, religions and ages. In this regard, I’d like to pay tribute to my late friend Charlie Stisted who was instrumental for its success”, said Chairman of BMG Foundation, Basil Ghalayini.
“Obviously, what inspires us in organizing such a flagship event is to capitalize on the high profile nature of the day to support a cause which is dear to our heart. This year, we are endorsing the water conservation awareness campaign that will be designed by university students”, he added further.
Winners for the best campaign idea competition "Our Water, Our Life" organized by BMG Foundation early this year to promote water conservation in the Middle East and Africa, will also be felicitated with a winning trophy by the queen.
