The Ministry of Higher Education received directions from the Ministry of Labor to hold projects being carried out by institutions and firms that do not apply the new Saudization system, Al Eqtesadiah newspaper said.
These directions were circulated to all departments in universities, emphasizing on the need to implement the decision of the Ministry of Labor.
This step comes in the course of linking all government projects with increasing the rate of Saudization, so that male and female graduates have job opportunities. The scheme will also help lower unemployment.
When a company plans to bid for any project, the authorized government person should ask for the new Saudization certificate, which the company can obtain online, then get it accredited from the Chamber of Commerce, resources said.
The certificate will contain the name of the government department that issued it, the name of the project, its purpose and specifications and the payment to be received when implementing the project. All certificates bear a number that can be verified with the Ministry of Labor.
A recent debate was going lately on the intentions of contractors to file a complaint to the Court of Grievances against the ministry’s decision to raise the annual fees of foreign labor to SR 2,400 per worker.
On the other hand, minister of labor said that the ministry is holding an open dialogue with all parties concerned in business sector, emphasizing that all businessmen are essential partners in the ministry’s effort to address any imbalances in the market.
The workshop that the contractors organized last Tuesday recommended that construction sector should file a complaint to the Court of Grievances. Meanwhile, Fahd Al-Hamadi, head of Contractors Committee of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that the decision extracts SR 16 billion annually for the benefit of Hafez program for the unemployed.
