Hyundai Genesis, Mini Cooper, Fuddruckers win JBL Inter-My Naghi openers

Hyundai Genesis of Dennis Elmenzo won against Tike Taste of Istanbul Restaurant 58-56. Both teams played good offense in the final quarter. Tike almost won the game but a sorry miss in the crucial seconds of the game gave Hyundai Genesis their first win.
Dennis Elmenzo’s outside snipping was unstoppable as he scored 14 points for Hyundai Genesis and was adjudged as the Giordano best player of the game while Tom Francisco led Tike Restaurant with 19 points.

Six teams from My Naghi Group of Companies paraded in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony last Thursday. This My Naghi Inter-division tournament would not have been possible without the support of Arabian Food Supplies Catering & Support Services, Ahmad Miri (general manager), Antoine Gergi Awwad (operation manager), Ghaleb Najjar (project manager Western Region), Assad Khalil (project manager Eastern Region), Mohamed Mohammady (Hyundai warranty manager), Ali Sabra (Tike Restaurant) and Hossam El Nabulsy (Chilli’s).
The award for the Best Team in Uniform went to Mini Cooper. Claiming the Best Mascot accolades were Denize Elmenzo (Hyundai Genesis) and Julien Esquivias (United Naghi).
Fuddruckers of Elmer Delos Santos beat Chilli’s 68-62. Chilli’s almost upset the defending champion in this game were it not for a sorry free-throw miss with 17 seconds to play. Fuddruckers went to the open man for its last offensive play. Marlon Melendez top-scored with a career high of 30 points for Fuddruckers and was adjudged as the Arab News Best Player of the game while RJ Flavier scored 14 points for Chilli’s Restaurant.
Mini Cooper of Rommel Juco defeated United Naghi 56-47. Mini Copper managed to dictate the tempo of the game up to the third quarter. United Naghi slowly got back to the game and reduced the lead to single digit. Mini Cooper dominated the shaded area in the final quarter to defuse the offense of United Naghi. Sherwin Cabading had 17 points for Mini Cooper and was adjudged as the JBL Best Player of the game while Jobert Recayo scored 16 points for United Naghi.
Friday, Brabley Braves of Hercky Mendoza beat STC Terabytes 86-82. Bradley halted the running game of STC in the final quarter. Alturas top-scored with 20 points and was adjudged as the Saudi Sign Best Player of the game while Sonny Soreta led STC Terabytes with 15 points.
MODA of Bhoyet Tordecilla defeated JDC 55-49. MODA managed to control the big man of JDC in the final quarter as JDC committed back-to-back errors in the dying seconds. Reynold Borceque top-scored with 17 points for MODA and was adjudged as Wael Sports Best Player of the game while Jameel Lumanog scored 14 points for JDC.
Al-Muhaidib of Pablo Viscayno beat Mahmoud Gharib 75-67. Mahmoud Gharib tried to take the driver’s seat in the final 2 minutes of the game but Muhaidib showed a big fighting heart and stopped the offensive plays of Mahmoud Gharib. Gary Fadernal scored 29 points for Muhaidib and was adjudged as TFC Best Player of the game while Jasper Jonas scored 25 points for Mahmoud Gharib.
Saudi Diyar of Jeffrey Esperanza won by default over Rabya 20-0.
