IIPS student wins prestigious scholarship

This year’s top student from International Indian Public School (IIPS) in Riyadh has won a prestigious scholarship from the Indian Ministry of Science and Technology to pursue his higher education.
Ali Hasan Adnan, who hails from Hyderabad, achieved an aggregate score of 475 marks out of a total 500, the highest among students who sat the Senior School Certificate Examination conducted by the India’s Central Board of Secondary Education this year.
Adnan’s father Khaja Ali Imran said: “It is indeed a big achievement to win the coveted Indian government scholarship because the selection of candidates is based on the performance in examinations within the cut-off threshold of the top 1 percent.
“We are really overjoyed with his performance despite the death of his grandmother Fakar Unnisa, a chemistry professor at India’s Osmania University, who has been always a source of inspiration for him.”
On behalf of the school, the newly-elected IIPS managing committee congratulated Adnan and said in a joint statement that this achievement must inspire all children.
This scholarship enables Adnan to enroll onto professional courses in prominent universities, said Imran, while also acknowledging the contributions of his wife Ashifa, who resigned from her job at the Ministry of Health to take care of the children.
Adnan, who scored 100 percent in mathematics and 95 percent in science, told Arab News yesterday that he would like to become a technocrat like his father.
He said: “An engineer by profession will be the first step in my career plan.”
He expressed hopes to contribute something new to the world of innovations, and “especially to his country India and his home country Saudi Arabia.”
He said he would like to “fly as high as the planets in the sky in terms of gaining knowledge”.
The scholarship carries substantial financial grants and facilities.
The scholarships are given only to outstanding Indian students for pursuing studies in basic and natural science courses.
