Indian Combined XI won the RCL Festival Cricket Cup when they beat Doctors XI in the final in the six-an-over format, organized by the Riyadh Cricket League and sponsored by Power Zone, Sketchers, Al Rabie Foods, Castrol and Al Yasra Fashions at the RCL Complex.
The final standing is as follows: Indian Combined XI, Doctors XI, Team RCL Manager XI, PISES (Pakistan International School English Section), Pakistan Embassy XI and Pakistan Investors Forum.
Senior Vice President RCL Jawaid Munawar conducted the prize distribution. Combined XI’s Abdul Wasif was the Man of the Match for his 34 runs. PIF’s Abdullah was awarded Man of the Series during which he scored 89 runs. Special award was given to Aslam of RCL Manager’s XI for taking a hat trick. The second position trophy was received by Dr. Tanveer of Doctors XI.
DHM Pakistan Embassy Khayyam Akbar and DCM Indian Embassy Manohar Ram were the joint chief guests. Vice President Schneider Electric Ahmed Rashoud, Abid Shaikh from Sketchers, Nadeem Tareen of DPS, Asghar Qureshi, Tariq Soomro, Bashir Chaudry, Khalid Chaudry, Shamshad Siddiqui from PIF, Ex President and VP of RCA Qadeer Mirza and Nasir Khan, Mairaj M Khan Principal DPS, Anwarul Haque and Abdullah Shariff were among the distinguished guests who were present.
Khayyam Akbar DHM Pakistan Embassy applauded the efforts of RCL for organizing such an event for the South Asian community witnessed by 400- 500 spectators including families and children.
For his part DCM Indian Embassy Manohar Ram not only congratulated the RCL but also appreciated the community for coming out of their homes to play and enjoy the cricket in the desert on RCL facilities, which he mentioned is excellent.
RCL Senior Adviser, Razaur Rahman briefed the RCL activities. RCL President Mamoor Elahi thanked the sponsors for supporting RCL and thanked the guests and participating teams for making this event successful.
Ahmed Al Rashoud VP Schneider Electric being a Saudi was delighted to see the Asian community sharing the sports culture of the country and applauded jointly with audience the efforts of RCL for arranging the cricket event. He also confirmed his company’s support to RCL in future. Shamshad Siddiqui thanked the participating teams and congratulated RCL for this achievement. He stressed the need of sponsorship support to the organizers by different businessmen as the deliverable for organizing the cricket event was visible and up to the mark Jawad Khalifa from RCL, thanked the executive committee, distinguished guests, ladies and sponsors for supporting RCL to promote cricket in KSA and ensured Prince Sultan bin Naser bin Abdulaziz, patron in chief certainly acknowledges the efforts of RCL and its working committee.
