At last there is some good news for subcontinent’s cricket lovers. Pakistan is going to play on Indian soil coming December. The government of India has permitted the national cricket board to revive cricketing ties with Pakistan by inviting the latter to play on its home ground. Mumbai attacks in 2008 led to suspension of such inter-country visits and this was exactly the terrorists were aiming for — to derail the peace process between these two feuding countries. Since gaining independence in 1947, both countries are at each other’s throat for non-issues. Being a small country, Pakistan suffered the most in economic and social development sectors as it had to unnecessarily compete with India on military front.
It’s high time for both countries to take a break from decades-old enmity. — Masood Khan, Jubail
