Minister of Interior and head of the Haj Higher Committee Prince Ahmed was scheduled to inspect the preparations of the departments and agencies taking part in implementing the Haj General Plan today.
He will inspect the human readiness and the capacity and capabilities of equipment provided by government and private bodes involved in Haj and in the service of pilgrims.
The aim is to achieve the highest level of convenience possible for pilgrims to meet expectations as directed by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, and Crown Prince Salman deputy premier and minister of defense.
The interior minister will hold his annual press conference after the inspection concludes.
The prince’s inspection will start at the camps of the Special Emergency Forces on Makkah-Taif highway.
He will inspect the forces participating in Haj including Haj Security Forces, Emergency Forces, General Security, Civil Defense, Passports Department, Police, Traffic Department, Security Patrols, Road Security and the Criminal Evidence Department.
He will also inspect the services of the interior ministry’s Medical Services Department as well as the services of the Ministry of Health and the Red Crescent, the performance of the King Fahd Security College’s cadets, the pedestrian organization and management force, the Facility Security force and the Diplomatic Security Special Force.
These groups will demonstrate their readiness to implement their plans and the prince will be briefed on the services and tasks they are performing during Haj days. He will also be briefed on the projects that are to be used during this year’s Haj days.
At the holy sites, work does not stop and everybody is racing against the clock to finish preparing their spaces. This year the season witnesses the entry the start of operation of new projects that will provide more flexibility in terms of pilgrims movement at the Holy Sites –- including the new pedestrian tunnels through Mina mountains. These tunnels are connected to the Jamarat areas -– such as new roads, toilets distributed all over the area and new high-capacity slaughterhouses that offer developed sacrifice services.
