It’s time to move on

It’s time to move on

Taleban can’t logically argue their case, and hence they resort to violence. Shooting a 15-year old schoolgirl is a case in point.
But, the world has responded to Taleban with logic, reason and determination.

The Pakistan government has announced to provide cash stipend, with help from World Bank and other donors, to around 3 million poor families to encourage them to send their kids to primary schools. This has been done in the backdrop of UN-sponsored Malala Day on Nov. 10. Also, tens of thousands of people across the world have signed an on-line petition to nominate Malala Yousufzai for Nobel Peace Prize. Taleban need to understand that world is getting united against their violence, sectarian hatred, narrow interpretation of religion, opposition to girls’ right to education and jobs.

The Taleban can’t set the clock backward to take countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan to medieval times. It’s time to move on. — Masood Khan, Jubail
