RIYADH: Japanese Ambassador Shigeru Endo ended his three-year tour of duty in the Kingdom last Tuesday.
“I am sad to leave Saudi Arabia, but I am happy that I can leave this place with many wonderful memories. I wish the Saudi people the best of health and prosperity,” he said.
The Japanese envoy said he had been attracted to Saudi Arabia because he felt the wisdom and vision of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
“I especially support the initiative of custodian of the Two Holy Mosques on interfaith dialogues and dialogue among civilizations. Not only because mutual understanding and friendship are of utmost importance for the future of mankind but also because Japan as a country firmly believes in such dialogues,” he said.
Endo said he had found a warm heart in the leadership and the people of Saudi Arabia alike.
“The Japanese people were heartened and encouraged by the sympathy, solidarity and support extended to the affected when Japan suffered the unprecedented disaster last year. Saudi contributions to peace and development, especially of this region, are numerous,” he said.
