Japanese Ambassador Shigeru Endo and his wife hosted a celebration at the embassy on Sunday to mark the 58th anniversary of Japan’s Self-Defense Forces (SDF) Day.
“The bilateral relationship between Japan and Saudi Arabia has progressed in the past few years, particularly in economy and culture,” he said.
He noted Japan’s participation in the Janadriyah festival, which showcases the cultures and traditions of Saudi Arabia annually. Many Saudi students study in Japan, some through the King Abdullah Scholarship Program.
During the reception, Saudi and Japanese guests learned about the activities of the Self-Defense Forces at home and abroad through a detailed model rescue aircraft display.
