Jeddah Lanes bags back-to-back Team of the Week awards

On a day of falling scores Jeddah Lanes’ 43.5 points were enough to give the host bowlers back-to-back Team of the Week awards during the ninth session in the FTBJ-ICBL 30th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes in Mossadia Plaza here.
Jeddah Lanes was the only team with a total to cross the 40 points mark as the rest of the teams struggled to score, chief of them league heavyweights Al Zamil Metal and Cristal Global.
While Zamil remained untouched at the top despite a modest haul of 18 points Cristal Global surrendered second place to Jeddah Lanes at the end of the session after finishing in the lower half of the day’s race on 27 points.
D’ Barkads, looking to break into the top four, had the second-best tally of 39 points with Hidada Ltd. on 36.5.
Avengers and Sky Freight-TFC tied on 36 with Akiera Sato Bowlers and Al Watan Décor likewise deadlocked on 32.
Pin Slashers were on 29 while Kulisap ni Moe matched Zamil’s total of 18. Saudi Diyar Consultants and Yanbu Sniper brought up the rear on 11 and 6 points.
Sky Freight’s Rene Santiago, one in a line of veterans in the Filipino bowling community, was the men’s Bowler of the Week, shooting the high series of 675 on lines of 225, 256 and 194. On the distaff side, Cheryl Tibay of D’ Barkads won the honor after carding 605 (161, 174,180).
Unlike some teams with an up-and-down display Jeddah Lanes was pretty steady and its top total output of 2,951 basically sealed its second straight team award.
Majid Aslani fired the second-best score of 662 to be at the vanguard of Jeddah Lanes with Paolo Allego on 632.
Jeannete Cerbito and Marie Gumpal put in their shares of 555 and 540, Nick Gozun contributed two games of 192-176 and Igna Salgado had a valuable 190.
Leo Edejer drilled 596 to back up Tibay at D’ Barkads. Che Bautista on 496 was the other player with complete games, while Danny Bautista added 202-203. Rally Zamora 223-185 and Rey Beltran tallied 171-204.
Over at Hidada, Amro Al-Amri returned the top score of 652 to go with the 580 by Pinky Acato, 526 by Nanding Siasoco, 517 by Grace Siasoco, a pair of 181s by Romy Bunagan and 200 by Rene Martinez.
Paul Antiporda and Myrna Diaz owned the leading scores of 597 and 587 at Avengers with Jun Palacios on 566 and Tess Marasigan on 551. Gerry Tano came through with 169-193 while Fred Monson had a single-game 226.
Santiago was part of the men’s trio that went the distance at Sky Freight and included Oca Bernabe 576 and Goying Salazar 530. Grace Dasas also did three games on 532 while Babes Tiongson posted 139-148 an Yolly Santos 164.
