The OFBL 2nd Reinforced Conference went full blast last Friday with two more divisions, the Inter-Hospital and Inter-Company Bonafide A, opening play at the Timeout Sports Academy court on Television Street, Ghulail District on the outskirts of Riyadh.
In all there are four divisions in this second offering of the Overseas Filipino Basketball League under chairman Salvador “Boy” Teves and Commissioner Rocky Gil. The Inter-Commercial and Inter-Company Bonafide B started hostilities several weeks ago.
A simple opening ceremony preceded Friday’s games. Winning the Best Muse award for the Inter-Company Bonafide A was Sherei Rose A. Sim of Schindler Team and the winner of the same award for Inter-Hospital Division was Ma. Fatima Bianzon of International Medical Center (IMC). Adjudged Best Team in Uniform were PSI in Inter-Company Bonafide B and Ibn Sina in Inter-Hospital Division.
On the court, King Abdul Aziz Hospital tasted its first win in decisive fashion against Ibn Sina 84-62 in the tournament supported by Al-Zugbi Sports Tailoring, MJE, Art’s Cuisine, Amaia Land and Timeout Sports Academy.
De Ocampo and Prado led the way for Ibn Sina with a combined output of 38 points but it was the gang rebounding and superb game by KAAH that made the difference.
Velasco, chosen the best player of the game, played well on both ends of the court and finished with 23 points for KAAH. Paguio also helped in scoring in support of Velasco while the big guys Indenible and Saloom combined their rebounding strength and also scored 16 points between them.
In Inter-Company action, Rabya won its second game against SAJCO 62-54.
Al Salud was the best player of the game with 21 points while Reymar Emancio added 16 points.
Toyota also made it two straight, crushing Andalus 79-55. Paul Taguba was named best player of the game. Bhara Cable finally won in the tournament as it downed Schindler 53-41 with Gabiana as the best player of the game. Regondola and Lebornio combined for 29 points to give Almarai victory over Hidada, which suffered its the first loss of the tournament.
