RIYADH: Jeddah-based King Abdulaziz University (KAU) will take part in the 26th conference of the European Society for Vascular Surgery, scheduled for Sept. 19, 2012, in Bologna, Italy.
KAU will be represented at the conference by Sheikh Mohammed Hussien Al-Amoudi, Chair for Diabetic Foot Research, the Saudi press agency reported.
Professor Hassan bin Ali Al-Zahrani, chair supervisor, said the conference will focus on the latest developments in vascular surgery. He said KAU’s participation came at a time to boost the Kingdom’s presence at international conferences.
He said the Saudi delegates would explore diabetes patients experiencing the problem of amputations in Arab countries, and its relationship with peripheral atherosclerosis.
Delegates will also brief attendees on the successes achieved by the chair related to diabetic foot research at national and international levels over the last four years.
It is recalled that Al-Amoudi has so far conducted more than 15 scientific researches and published eight books in Arabic to raise awareness and education in this area. He also cared for more than 800 patients with diabetes, including 100 diabetic patients with diabetic foot, made more than 2,500 visits to the center of diabetic foot clinics, in addition to participating in local and international conferences.
