Fighting terrorism

This is with reference to the report “Joint GCC force to defeat terror” (Dec. 3). It is heartening to note that Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid Al-Khalifa came up with this idea, which is very timely. He was spot on when he said “if Afghanistan was a primary school for terrorists, then Syria and Iraq is a university for them…”
We don’t have time to waste and need immediate action to counter the growing threat of terrorism in the region.
It is sad to read reports about terrorists slaughtering innocent people across the world.
In the meantime, we read about the detention of IS leader Baghdadi’s wife as a bargain chip for the release of 27 Lebanese soldiers reportedly in IS custody.
We are glad that GCC has finally taken a concrete step to eradicate the menace of terrorism. With no exception all expatriate communities living in the Gulf region want peace in the region at any cost. — S.H. Moulana, Riyadh
