We are pleased to note that the authorities’ timely action in tracking down beggars at various busy intersections in the city has paid dividends. We don’t see young boys or elderly people causing any hazardous crisscrossing seeking a riyal note anymore. However, the vacuum created by absence of male beggars has been effectively filled in by their female counterparts.
These women beggars are more bold and careless while crossing the streets, thus creating immense problems for motorists. Sometimes, they jump in front of a moving car to get to the other end of the road.
Sometimes it is really annoying to note how casually these women walk in between moving vehicles. We believe that the grace period given to them is enough and time has come to take action against these elements.
