Mahd Al Uloom International School celebrated the Saudi National Day on Sept. 24 with zest and patriotic fervor in its premises.
The day was marked with enthralling cultural performances ranging from patriotic songs to folk dances of Saudi Arabia. The students and teachers wore Saudi costumes to mark the occasion. Chief guest at the event was Saleh Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, the foreign education supervisor at the Ministry of Education. The day started with a guard of honor by the school’s scout team, after which the program commenced with an invoking recitation of the Holy Qur’an.
Principal M. K. Abdul Sathar pronounced a speech and welcomed the gathering. He enlightened the students with his words about the importance of the day and the generosity of the Saudi government toward expatriates. Chief guest Al-Ghamdi officially inaugurated the ceremony, emphasizing the integrity and rich cultural heritage of the nation. Yahya Khaleel Noorani, the manager of the school, spoke on the occasion about the importance of the Arabic language.
The school premises turned to a kaleidoscope of colors as the cultural shows and other performances got underway. The scintillating Saudi folk dance performance left the audience spellbound. The patriotic songs of small students added its charm. Academic coordinator Mansoorali proposed the vote of thanks. The event came to a close with the national anthem by the school band.
The students of the girls’ section also observed the National Day. The program commenced with the prayer, followed by a thought for the day. Vice Principal Maimoona Ali extended a word of welcome for the chief guest and the gathering. She enlightened the students with her words about the importance of the day and a special reverence for Saudi Arabia as the birthplace of Islam. Saudi manager of the girls’ section Ahlam officially inaugurated the ceremony.
The highlights of the event were the Saudi dance by Grade 2 students, the group singing, and fancy dresses. Grade I and the KG section had separate celebrations wherein all students were given Saudi flags and had an enjoyable round of singing and mass drill. The function concluded with the singing of the national anthem.
