The official spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Khalid Mirghalani, said Thursday that Makkah is free of epidemic diseases.
Emergency cases at health centers and hospitals near the Grand Mosque reached 15,773 cases. “There has only been one case of sunstroke and three cases of heat exhaustion at one of our hospitals” added Mirghalani.
Since the beginning of Ramadan, the ministry has provided a medical team that is available around the clock and made provisions for emergency treatment of patients at a number of hospitals.
Apart from this, the Health Ministry's information center provides medical instruction and advice to the pilgrims. They are advised to carry with them sufficient amounts of personal medication, not to expose themselves to the sun's harmful rays, maintain personal hygiene, avoid crowded areas and check up at the nearest hospital if symptoms of tiredness and fatigue appear during the pilgrimage.
