Manalo, Gime May champions in FEDBG event

After toppping the eliminations, Marcelo Manalo and Malou Gime went on to capture the May 2012 championship, respectively turning back the challenges of Jun de Dios and Malou Nidoy during the FEDBG monthly tournament at the Bowling City here.
Having beaten Arnel Bautista for the Class B title, Manalo bowled against other class champions Melvin Lising (OA), Jimmy Aragones (C) and Jun de Dios (D) in a 4-bowler race for the overall championship. De Dios led with 201 after game 1 with Manalo, Aragones and Lising on 181, 174 and 162 respectively. But an ultimate push of 227, employing his pro style, had Manalo realizing his title aspiration on 408 total. The fast-improving de Dios settled for second place on 394 followed by Lising and Aragones who carded 366 and 364.
Leading the CD group, Gime was up against Lourdes, the AB top seed, and playoff survivors Malou Nidoy and Shirley Sagmit. Nidoy eliminated Sally Sanosa, Ester Santoc and Alona Antinero while youthful Sagmit took out Evelyn Santoc, Mariz Resano and Grace Funtilon.
With a 194 scratch, Nidoy led after the first salvo with handicap game of 209 with Gime on 202, Sagmit 192 and Punzalan 165.
But with a great 227 follow up including class C handicap of 30, Gime, with 425, succeeded in grabbing the driver’s seat to take home the ladies’ title for the May championship. Nidoy ranked first runner-up on 401, Sagmit third on 387 and Punzalan fourth on 327.
