The police in Qasim has arrested a Saudi man in his 30s, who was accused of being involved in at least 34 criminal cases, including forgery, issuing bad checks and impersonation.
Col. Fahd Al-Habdan, spokesman of Qassim police, said that the man cheated several government offices and private firms. He was accused of employing fraudulent means to get personal financing from a number of firms, especially those operating in the construction sector, Al-Madinah local daily reported Monday.
Al-Habdan said that the man is a wanted criminal and there were warrants issued against him in connection with 34 cases in the Riyadh, Qassim and Hail regions. The young man used several forged government documents to cheat people and firms. He also impersonated a number of Saudis, including his relatives, to carry out fraudulent operations. Al-Habdan said police officers seized several forged documents and fake seals of government departments and organizations, banks and other institutions.
Meanwhile, Jeddah patrol police arrested four people who robbed a Yemeni national of a huge amount of money and mobile recharge cards. They had disguised themselves as plainclothes police. The four-member gang — one Saudi and three Yemenis — snatched the man’s bag, containing SR 455,855 and phone cards valued at SR94,000.
Jeddah police acting spokesman Nawaf Al-Boq said that the Yemeni victim, who works as marketing representative, was on his way to a bank to deposit the money. The gang stopped their car near him and introduced themselves as officers belonging to the criminal investigation department. They ordered him to get into the vehicle and took him to an enclosure in Al-Salama district where they attacked him and took his money and phone cards.
The driver was wearing a security official’s uniform while the others wore traditional Saudi dress.
Immediately after receiving the victim’s complaint, the patrol police launched a manhunt that resulted in the arrest of the gang, Al-Boq added.
