Several bombings in Damascus were staged by the Syrian regime, an ex-propagandist of the president has revealed.
Abdullah Al-Omar, who was one of the staff members in the media office of Bashar Assad, is one of the high-ranking defectors based in Turkey.
In an interview with Al Jazeera in Antakya, Omar claimed many of the big bombings that the regime blamed on terrorist groups were in reality the work of the regime.
The intelligence agencies did them in coordination with the president’s office, he added. After having guarantees that Assad will not be prosecuted, the president will flee to Russia, he said.
“The Assad regime knows it cannot hold onto power and has already made plans to escape to Russia,” he said.
“Every explosion we knew hours before it was going to happen, and live video feed from the blast location to the president’s office was set up before it was taken to pro-government channels. Even the men killed by explosions were prisoners, and bodies were used to decorate the blast locations to convince the Arab League observers (that fighters did them).”
