Around 1,900 people visited the Ministry of Health pavilion at the Aramco Cultural Festival to benefit from the clinical tests offered at the show.
The services were offered as part of a campaign called “Sayyouf” to encourage people to enjoy their holidays and stay safe and healthy.
This summer the Ministry of Health (MoH) launched a massive online awareness campaign for those who leave their homes for the holidays.
The program highlights the possible health problems that people face during their summer holidays.
It urges the visitors to take special care when eating, playing in parks or swimming pools, and in the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases.
It also advises people on how to avoid road accidents and drug abuse, adhere to a balanced diet and exercise regime and how to safely use electronic devices, especially when children are present.
Khaled Al-Deraibi, director of the MOH’s media production department and head of the campaign, said the program received a good response.
“The pavilion witnessed large attendance as it provided health awareness activities and comprehensive medical examinations for visitors, including measuring body mass index (BMI), blood glucose levels to detect diabetes and the occurrence of osteoporosis.”
Pavilion supervisor Abdulaziz Al-Hudeithi said 222 men and 295 women underwent tests for BMI, blood glucose levels, blood pressure and others.
Around 180 men and 319 women were tested for osteoporosis, he added.
As part of its awareness program, the ministry hosted a number of health consultants who interacted with the public through a phone-in service.
The program helped people to seek answers to health problems from these consultants, who were also available to answer queries on Twitter.
Aramco Cultural Festivals are now being held in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Najran, Al-Hasa, Abqaiq and Madinah.
